Cool Neighborhoods in Barcelona to Rent an Apartment

I
March 3, 2022

Are you looking for cool Barcelona neighborhoods to rent or buy a home? Barcelona has a lot to offer to its visitors and residents, including fantastic neighborhoods for families with children. The city is one of Europe's most popular places due to its excellent blend of modern architecture and history, and its weather and lifestyle.

There are various neighborhoods in Barcelona, including Les Corts, Gràcia, Barceloneta, Raval, Gotic, Sant Pere, L'Eixample, and many others. For instance, Gràcia is well known for its multiculturalism, bohemian and striking attitude and proximity to Barcelona's central business district, which is why most people like the area.

Although each city neighborhood has its own set of advantages and disadvantages, some outperform others in neighboring facilities, services, green spaces, and so forth.

Main neighborhoods of Barcelona

These are the characteristics of the main neighborhoods of the city:

Gràcia

Gràcia, known for its markets, shops, restaurants and social life, has grown into a different city in its own right. The neighborhood, which is Catalan in style and welcoming in nature, has become one of the best neighborhoods in Barcelona for expats, families, locals and young professionals.

Not only is the Gràcia area recognized for having its fair number of squares and gardens, but it is also home to Gaudi's Park Güell, which is a visual delight. And, if that isn't enough for families, Gràcia is well-known for its excellent education system.

Barceloneta

What was once a peaceful fishing village on the outskirts of Barcelona has now become a residents' paradise. Barcelona doesn't get much better than Barceloneta when it comes to beach access, a dynamic social scene and more than fair rent pricing. In Barceloneta, housing is simple and inexpensive, but most units offer lovely sea views, which most people come for.

Eixample

The Eixample neighborhood is one of Barcelona's most outstanding and central locations. This district is distinguished by its organized grid of streets.

Living in Eixample is a fantastic way to be conveniently close to all that Barcelona offers because it offers excellent transport links and services.

Eixample is a remarkably gorgeous area, packed with majestic structures and charming, tree-lined streets. It is home to some of the city's most remarkable modernist architecture, such as Casa Batlló and La Casa Milà.

Poblenou

This laid-back area is well-known for its closeness to some of Barcelona's top beaches. This neighborhood is also one of the nicest areas in Barcelona for families.

Despite its proximity to the city center, the Poblenou area has a more peaceful environment and an outstanding quality of life.

Poblenou is a good alternative for living centrally in Barcelona at a low price, thanks to its less expensive real estate than neighboring areas.

Ciutat Vella

Ciutat Vella is one of the city's liveliest neighborhoods and the oldest section of Barcelona. Its streets and squares define Barcelona's heritage, but it is also the ideal location to explore modern culture. Barceloneta, Raval, Gotic, Sant Pere, and Santa Caterina I la Ribera are the four neighborhoods that make up Ciutat Vella.

Sagrada Familia

The residential streets of the Sagrada Familia neighborhood are relatively quiet, and more than half of the population were born in Barcelona. This typical Eixample neighborhood has a highly disciplined grid form. The region has an older population with few students, and there is little ethnic and foreign impact compared to the rest of the city. It's full of beautiful architecture.

How to choose the best neighborhood to live in Barcelona

There are several aspects to consider when selecting cool Barcelona neighborhoods to reside in. Since everyone has different tastes,  everyone will have different requirements regarding location, local amenities, and the price per square meter they are willing to spend for Barcelona real estate. Here are some of the factors to consider when choosing the best neighborhood to live in Barcelona:

Services

For instance, Ciutat Vella has the most basic services and facilities, including libraries, schools, and health clinics. Although such services are not in short supply, the area is mainly a tourist destination. Therefore, services are geared toward visitors rather than locals.

Price Per Square Meter

Although the average price per square meter varies yearly, the underlying trends remain steady. Ciutat Vella and Gràcia are often less expensive, while property in Eixample (which includes sections of the so-called Zona Alta) is typically more expensive than the city's average.

Pedralbes is widely regarded as a luxury enclave, with exceptional properties costing several million euros. There are, however, exceptions. A refurbished attic in Ciutat Vella or a loft in Gràcia might also cost more than the city's average.

Type of Property

In terms of property kind, there are no better or worse options, only a diversity of options. Zona Alta, Les Corts, and Gràcia neighborhoods are generally larger and comprise flats, mansions, villas and castles. In the Eixample and Ciutat Vella apartments prevail, but there are also numerous urban alternatives.

Public Transport

Barcelona's public transportation system covers the entire city. The primary transportation interchanges and hubs are located around Ciutat Vella and Eixample, including Plaça Catalunya and the Passeig de Gràcia and França stations. These regions have the finest public transportation connections for folks who can live without a car. Some options are the metro, buses and trains.

Prospects for Work

Gràcia and Eixample are two of Barcelona's major commercial and office districts. Those working in the tourist industry who wish to live close to their workplace may want to dwell in Ciutat Vella.
